U.S. women soccer stars Morgan, Solo questionable for match

At least two of the most recognizable names from the U.S. national women’s soccer team might not play Sunday at Heinz Field.
Goalkeeper Hope Solo and forward Alex Morgan are both questionable for the 1:30 p.m. friendly against Costa Rica, the first stop on a 10-game victory tour for the U.S. team, which recently won its third Women’s World Cup. Solo has an injured knee that occurred in the World Cup while Morgan had minor knee surgery July 17. Neither has since played for their National Women’s Soccer League teams.
Forward Sydney Leroux definitely is out after having right ankle surgery in July.
But even if some are out of the lineup, all 23 players from the World Cup-winning team will make the trip to Pittsburgh, including midfielder Carli Lloyd, forward Abby Wambach and defender Meghan Klingenberg, a Richland native. For a peek at all the players before the match, the team will hold a free, public practice at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heinz Field.
More than 41,000 tickets have been sold for the game, with ample 500-level seats still available, as well as some 100-level, 200-level and club seats. Tickets can be purchased through ussoccer.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 as well as Ticketmaster centers in the are. Prices range from $28-$90.
